The Grift Deck is a satirical, hand-drawn card deck that names the tactics before they name you. 36 illustrated cards covering the con artists, cult tactics, propaganda techniques, and coercive systems shaping modern life … from love bombing and future faking to regulatory capture, the pink tax, and a few very specific billionaires who shall not go unnamed.

It's a tool for critical thinking and media literacy. It's a conversation starter. It's also genuinely funny, in the way that dark truths sometimes have to be.

Each deck comes with a full booklet of card descriptions and recommended resources, and is signed by the artist.

INSPIRATION

Created by artist, activist-historian, and Gen X Goth Girl Alexandra Jamieson, the 36-card Abortion Trading Card deck was created in 2023 in response to the ongoing attack on abortion rights in the United States. Drawing from history, herbalist lore, feminist art, and the Constructivist Art movement, every courage-building deck donates profits to abortion care organizations like The Brigid Alliance.

The Abortion Trading Cards imagine a dystopian future where all abortion, sexual education, and reproductive healthcare is illegal. Information has been forced underground, and pregnant people secretly share information about abortifacient herbs, anatomy, and abortion history using decks of hand-altered playing cards. They were purposefully made to look and feel as if they had been “traded” amongst hundreds of hands, passed in secret from one person to the next. Hand-written notes and arcane symbols share camouflaged clues that have been forgotten or lost.

FASCISM TAROT is a 20-piece art card deck, showing the early warning signs of fascism.

How This Deck Was Made: An old tarot deck was used as the substrate for collage, paint, gesso, and inks. Images were sourced from vintage materials and tea-stained papers. Letters were hand stamped with vintage type from American Type Founders in Goudy Oldstyle 24 point.
